February Newsletter

A Month of Momentum!
We had a tremendous response to our recent "Meet the Headmaster" event, our 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status was confirmed, and we continue to have donors partner with us in our mission of forming young men and women of character who are academically and spiritually strong! More to share, but first...

G.K. Chesterton Quote of the Month:

“For the only courage worth calling courage must necessarily mean that the soul passes a breaking point and does not break.”

Meet the Headmaster and Test Drive a Class!
Dr. Jeffrey Bond introduced himself to our community and taught a sample Socratic seminar class to prospective students on Jan. 20th. The response from both students and parents was overwhelmingly favorable:

"I quite enjoyed the sample class! Dr. Bond was an engaging teacher; allowing time for thoughts but also not letting awkward silences descend upon the air. He was especially good at asking follow-up questions to the main questions, and even some follow-up questions to the follow-up questions! This allowed us to really dig deep into the different thought paths we could take. I found the method of our discussion worthwhile ... I think he will be a wonderful teacher and is clearly well versed in this subject."  - Prospective student

For anyone who missed it, we're offering a similar opportunity this Saturday, Feb. 3rd, 1 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas University Parish. Register now and bring a friend! This event is for everyone: prospective families, prospective faculty, and our donor community. Meanwhile, get to know our headmaster through a series of interesting articles on our site:

It's Decision Time for Prospective Families.
We know that choosing a school is one of the most important decisions families make. And, per the Chesterton quote above, we know it takes courage to step into something new. Headmaster Bond used the words "trailblazers" and "pioneers" to refer to the founding class of students we are seeking: rising 9th and 10th graders who are ready to pursue academic excellence in a joyfully Catholic environment. Interested students beyond rising 9th and 10th grade may inquire about taking select classes with us.

Please note, while the application due date is January 31st (tomorrow), we will consider applications submitted after that point. We strongly encourage applying as soon as possible, because we want to choose an appropriately-sized space, and our site selection process is underway! If you're on the fence, applying is the best way to continue your discernment process, as well as catching the next sample class on Feb. 3rd! Explore our admissions process and apply online today. We're here to help with any lingering questions, so please contact us if you'd like some support!

In Need of Tuition Assistance?

We've committed to making our school accessibly-priced, part of our "Cultura Vitae" motto, inspired by St. Pope John Paul II. For some families, the annual tuition may still be out of reach. Please don't let that deter your child from receiving a truly pivotal high school experience. Tuition assistance is available to families who apply and qualify. An admissions application must be completed before applying for financial aid. Click here to learn more.

It's Official! CASJE is a 501(c)(3)!
That means contributions to our school are tax-deductible (per our IRS letter). If you've already made a contribution, thank you; you should have received a mailed tax statement letter. Please contact us if you did not. Launching Chesterton Academy is a true grassroots movement that would not be possible without support from you, our community. We invite you to make a recurring or one-time gift and join us in bringing the Charlottesville area a high school with a higher purpose!
